Originality, A Lost Art in Today’s Music

Originality, A Lost Art in Today’s Music

by: Nuwri Ghostleaf

Originality, A Lost Art in Today’s Music. Where does one begin? Well before I do, let me make this perfectly clear, I’m not shooting for literary correctness, I write strictly from the heart the majority of the time, and straight to the point depending on the subject matter. I’m not trying to win a literary prize, for I know those awards mainly go to writers who’s ambitions are New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal kind of honors.
With all due respect to ALL eyes that see read and hear this, no disrespect to your intelligence, I just want to have written verbal conversations with you as the friend I see you as. Punctual correctness typos and the like, are not something in a natural conversation, but expressions of verbal discourse are acceptable within reasonable respect.

Sincerely, Nuwri Ghostleaf

Let’s look back to the Future to see what’s missing today. 60’s Motown, 70’s Rock N Roll, 80’s DISCO. Then came a brand of street music that had Politicians and Lawmakers panties in a tizzy. 90’s RAP and HIP HOP (formerly known as underground). Already selling more than any other main stream music genre, just done in a more caveat way that most who weren’t into it or shall we say couldn’t or didn’t want to understand it, chose to fight what would become the most profitable genres of it’s time and still is. Because of it’s POWER over an entire millennial generation with what seems to be an endless money finding supply for those who bring the Freshest Beats and Hard Core messages.

To say that all of today’s music is not creative in it’s own special way, would be disrespecting the artists creativity, BUT, when you consider that almost all of it sounds the same, it makes you wonder about the title of this articles correctness. Is Originality, A Lost Art in Today’s Music ?

When Black artists are now trying their attempts at country and rock and roll. White artists singing r&b soul. The awards being given to those who aren’t deserving say music industry insiders. You have to stop and look at the real creative geniuses of yesteryear decades and say, What happened and or better yet, What’s Happening? it’s an undeniable fact the creative forces of long lasting careers were being formed Yesterday and not today.  “Blame It On The Rain” or deal with the reality that Originality, A Lost Art in Today’s Music is indeed a fact.

As the everyday struggle for Indie artists to wedge their way into the mainstream lime light, the playing field is there, you just have to forge ahead with an undeniable tenacity, wanting it more than the next artist. Can you compete with the Big labels? “YES YOU CAN” that’s what the level playing field is all about, it’s call The Internet, Social Media, Facebook, Google Youtube, Twitter, Vine, SnapChat, Spodify, Tidal, Google play, Instagram, Periscope, Blab, and so so many more you just have to get engaged and STAY ENGAGED!

This will be a part 1 of many because of the on going battle to get the Music Industry back on it’s Billion dollar head again. As my musician friend The Silver Conductor always says: We need a “Change Up”
