So you want to be a star do ya? RADIO SUPERSTAR or INTERNET SUPERSTAR ? now that is the question. If you choose wrong are you a winner or loser? depends on how big of a superstar you’re  planning on becoming. These are two of the most extreme differences today that there ever will be in human history when it comes to the record industry.

How can I say that, well just look at what it takes to become a radio star, Big PAYOLA, no he didn’t say payola, I thought that was illegal? well it is depending on the type of payola you  are talking about. To get your music played in heavy rotation like you hear when you hear a Beyonce’ Justin B. Jay Z, or any of your top selling artists that are out today, to the degree it takes for people to truly start to want and enjoy your new sound, will take more than can imagine and then you still are on life support and mercy of the program directors.

Now on the other hand a great thing happened with the advent of the Internet it’s called Freedom, free to be the artist you want to be. Back in the early days artists had very little artistic freedom. You had to sing and perform the way A&R people thought was best for the label and not necessarily what the artists was envisioning for him or herself.

Social media has change the game tremendously, A level playing field has been put in place where if you learn what it takes to manipulate Google Youtube Twitter Facebook Instagram Pinerest and all the other sites by blogging posting liking networking teaching lucking if there is such a thing, DO WHATEVER IT’S GOING TO TAKE!

My dear friend The “Silver Conductor” says and most importantly, “Learn the business of the business you are in”. From publishing to copyrighting, the entire spectrum you will be glad you did. If you can’t then find someone you can trust. Get a theatrical attorney this is crucial.

Here are a few Superstars:

Both Radio and Video, This video broke the walls down at MTV, Columbia records says play this or take down ALL of their artists video which would have shutdown MTV because 90% of their video content was coming from Columbia Wow! Talk about Power…

We could put many videos in this article I mean a countless number of artists from yesteryear that I’m sure you heard of or at least their music, but I’m sure you are feelin me by now.

So I’ll ask you again RADIO SUPERSTAR or INTERNET SUPERSTAR ? If they took a survey I bet internet superstar would win out for the fame part, but most definitely radio for the real I know that song. The psychology of radio plays on the mind longer because of what is called repetition, Heavy radio rotation meaning you hear the song until you hate it or love it.

With all that being said how does all this play in on your decision? well now you have a choice, you either want it it or you don’t the choice is yours so choose wisely, and stay thirsty my friend 🙂 is where you can find more jewel answers to other record industry related questions you might have have thought by now.

MusicLuv sincerely,
