MISSING IN ACTION

The first thing that comes to mind is POW, MISSING IN ACTION, well let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with war. It’s about the missing musical mastery of great music like that of yesterday. Yes I know we live in different times and some of the “BS” songs are reflective of the times and mindsets of the creatives.
The genres of music also make a slight difference but not really. It’s just a different style but saying practically the same thing in a different way. No matter if it’s SOUL R&B ROCK PUNK JAZZ COUNTRY POP or CLASSICAL. Ok that’s done through musical instrument expressions but if they the instruments could say it in words, I’m sure it wouldn’t be to off base just done with a touch of Class 🙂
MISSING IN ACTION are artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Marvin Gaye, and the so many other prolific writers and artists who brought us timeless hits that you want to hear over and over for the memories they bring back to heart and mind. The era’s of the 50’s 60’s 70’s 80’s, not to hurt feelings before these times, it’s just that music was too segregated back in those days, though I’m sure depending whom you ask, would have their opinion and that’s cool, but since I have the keyboard we’ll go with my accounting for this article.
Fast forwarding to 2016, we have such an abundance of musical “BS” that is being forced down our ear drums, that I personally have made my playlists of mostly yesteryear’s era’s 90%. The titles underscore suggestion is that we need as my dear friend and musical go to musician The Silver Conductor says in his hit song “CHANGE UP”
Take a moment to think of the 5 W’s and an H. The industry has changed so drastically that musicians are at a real loss on what to do and which way to turn. Even with social media and all that it has to offer like Facebook Youtube Twitter Instagram Live this Live that, still a major challenge for those willing to dive in head or feet first.
This mixed in with the cray cray political antics of what’s going on in this presidential election madness. A world gone crazy if you ask me. All this reminds of albums like: Stevie Wonders “Inner Visions” or Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” take the time to really listen to what the lyrics were saying back then, Amazing!

Stevie Wonder – Living for the City
1973 Motown Time Capsule Video featuring the song Living for the City by Stevie Wonder.
The magic of what was being sung about back then not just the cultural messages but the presentation of where we as a country through all the power struggle events world wide, like unnecessary wars and bad political lies being fed to the people. As I was taught growing up, do your due diligence and know your facts.
In closing let me say I’d have to agree with my friend The Silver Conductor
We as a nation and world need a “CHANGE UP”
