Hardest Part of Being an Indie Artist

By: Nuwri Ghostleaf

Hardest Part of Being an Indie Artist

Before I begin, let me make this perfectly clear, I’m not shooting for literary correctness,I write strictly from the heart and the majority of the time, straight to the point depending on the subject matter.I’m not trying to win a literary prize for I know those awards mainly go to writers who’s ambitions are New York Times Washington Post Wall Street Journal kind of honors.
With all due respect to ALL eyes that see read and hear this,no disrespect to your intelligence,I just want to have (WVC) Written Verbal Conversations with you as the friend I see you as. Punctual correctness typos and the like, are not something in a natural conversation, but expressions of verbal discourse are acceptable within reasonable respect.

I was really kind of stuck on where to start but I guess let’s just jump in see how cold or hot the water is. From what I’ve observed it’s the Hustle and Belief in YOU! Most artists like people, have been conditioned to FAIL! That’s right, we hear negative all the time about how we need to go get a real job, you know how many have tried to make in that business? with that kind of bombardment coming at you most of the time, you can see why the road less traveled is a hard and winding one.

The Hardest Part of Being an Indie Artist is not the creative part persae, it’s the Hustle and Belief, yes I repeated that because you need to get that stuck in your head so when all the nay sayers come at you and trust me they will, YOU gotta be strong without apology to No One! It’s your Dream and Passion, you must be the All n All in the final decisions because everything will be handed back to you with all the blame that goes with it when all is said and done.

Failure is just a picture of what you need to do right as you keep on your journey. I know I know you’ve probably heard it many times before, but if it where not true, why then do you hear it said so many times? Like my dear friend The Silver ConductorPlan your work then Work your Plan. He is constantly saying we need a “Change Up”

This is a real business  that has to be treated as such or YOU will Fail! It’s that simple. Yes you can still have fun but you must be business minded in every facet of the game. Just because it looks cool on the Youtube videos and Snapchat and all other social media which by the way has made it much easier to make it happen BIG in a shorter time frame than yesteryear, the Hustle Grind and Belief has to stay STRONG!

An Indie Artists Musts! Indie Artist Chance The Rapper

An Indie Artists Musts!

Let me start with it’s been a while since I’ve written a post for my dear friend The SC. Life and the music business has taken fast and furious turns on a daily basis it seems like. With a tea spoon of Indie Artists and the chosen few majors who have dominated the industry by design, if you have the millions of dollars money machine behind you, you too can become “Famous”, but let reality set in it’s back to the “If It’s To Be, It’s Up To Me”. That’s where just part 1 of this series begins. An Indie Artists Musts!

Publishing. this is the life blood of your music out living you, but can be your heirs income for many years to come. Bing Crosby, Michael Jackson, Prince, John Lennon and many others who wrote creative master pieces that have and will stand the test of time as long as congress don’t F*** it up by not making corrections to the provisions that where put in place by president Clinton, Bill that is 😀

As an INdie artist, you must be a member of or join immediately ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC the bodies that monitor your money flow. Goggle anyone by doing your due diligence. Read up see what other artists are a part of these organizations and make sure YOU join if you are creating music and getting it sold and played anywhere.

Mechanical  & Performance publishing royalties are what you will be missing out on just to name a few. Remember the rabbit hole is deep, but you can get your carrots if you get yourself educated to the facts of how the game is played. You Must do publishing deals, especially outside the US. Publisher, Co-publisher, Sub-publisher, this is for administration purposes that can lead to Big money from other countries which could ultimately become your biggest market. Places like Japan, South Africa, UK, Germany, Ireland and so many more.

Radio, TV, Commercials, Streaming, get your music placed like Miriam Hill and watch the royalties to flow. You’ve heard her song “DOWN” the budget behind that is crazy BIG! NBA, March Madness. Yes it takes work but you know the saying “Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained” Go Get Er’ Done baby as my friend The Silver Conductor says, “Change Up” is what’s happening.

In closing, You must connect with a sub-publisher for collecting of your overseas money. Do your due diligence and become get up to point on the business you are in. If YOU put in the time in your grind, it can happen.

The Holidays

The Holidays

The Holidays

Let me start by saying, whatever your Belief system is, be Blessed in it. For me, the season was questioned many years ago by the killing of my mother and oldest brother by a drunk driver on Xmas eve. Ever since then, a very unhappy feeling comes over me. I know I know some of you are saying be happy for the time you have with those you still have in your life and I feel you there, but it still doesn’t fill that missing void in my heart.

I’ll just leave you with, I truly hope that ALL of your dreams and blessings come true at this time and may the New Year be 10x’s more prosperous than 2016.

The Hip Hop/Rap Challenge

THE HIP HOP / RAP CHALLENGE

by: Nuwri Ghostleaf

Before I begin, let me make this perfectly clear, I’m not shooting for literary correctness,I write strictly from the heart and the majority of the time, straight to the point depending on the subject matter.I’m not trying to win a literary prize for I know those awards mainly go to writers who’s ambitions are New York Times Washington Post Wall Street Journal kind of honors.

Now with that being said and hopefully Innerstood not understood, we don’t want to stand under anything negative. I must say it was tough trying to find the right verbiage to use in explaining what would be the best way to in act this challenge, so rather than beat around the bush trying to find the correct way to express what’s really going here, let’s just be real and say it.

THE HIP HOP / RAP CHALLENGE is simply this, ALL artists who are in the game on the real, who stand for what the craft is really about and that would be to “Express Yourself” and those cultural street vibes that touch the pulse of the streets, hearts and minds of a gullible generation possibly 2, is an actual  planned design happening by those in the power positions.

I know telling it like it is, is real talk, but to lay down “BS” and call it streets is what? Point blank (no pun intended if you feel me) is Wack! Outta Bounds, Straight up Front en. Truth be told, the label executives back in the day 80’s after they saw the power of Hip Hop/Rap, even though there was a lot of noise being made underground that never made it to the surface streets, the dollars being generated was too good to pass up. Regardless of the generations mentality that were being destroyed. Yes in the hood was the main target, but the masses in every culture was attracted to the messages that resonated with the young generations.

Okay what’s the challenge right? THE HIP HOP / RAP CHALLENGE is for all who are bold enough to come CLEAN with a message that has not one curse word in it from beginning to end and actually release it, even if it means standing up to a label executive and saying this is what I want my FANS to feel from me next.

Bottom line, the second language of this country is SWEARING not Spanish. The game is this, keep the sheeple dumbed down with what is making them ignorant and blinded to our agenda and cause, they’ll never know the difference or what’s happening right in front of their eyes by their own people.

Oh yeah it will be said that you are soft, punkin out, a Bit**! and so many other 2nd language words that I won’t even bother, you get my drift I hope. Everything from drugs pimpin, hoeing and whatever else that’s new to the game of “Gettin Mine”. Back to the challenge. Do you know of an artist that would do this? If so,use Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Intsagram, Vine, however you feel will get the challenge out, Do IT!

THE HIP HOP / RAP CHALLENGE

Knowing these are the times we live in, is the only way the new younger generations will know how to communicate with each other? As my dear friend The Silver Conductor says in his hit song: “Change Up”

Let’s Do This!
