An Original or Clone? Sonic Sound

An Original or Clone? Sonic Sound

by: Nuwri Ghostleaf

An Original or Clone? Sonic Sound. This I must say is such a relevent question to ask of any one who’s trying to stay as original as possible in an industry that is soley predicated on who sounds like whom the best. With most major artists sounding so alike that traditional radio is becoming a commercial joke of spades.

Before I begin, let me make this perfectly clear, I’m not shooting for literary correctness, I write strictly from the heart and the majority of the time straight to the point, depending on the subject matter. I’m not trying to win a literary prize for I know those awards mainly go to writers who’s ambitions are New York Times Washington Post and Wall Street Journal kind of honors.
With all due respect to ALL eyes that see read and hear this, no disrespect to your intelligence, I just want to have Written Verbal Conversations with you as the friend I see you as.                                                                    Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Nuwri Ghostleaf

Now were was I? oh yes, An Original or Clone? Sonic Sound. Damn this is really a no brainer for anyone trying to impress the impressionable public that has been and is being conditioned to buy and like what the controlled traditional radio is constantly cramming down our ear canals. We hear what sounds like the same tracks just a different voice laid on top with the so called icing of a top name major artist. Yes there are a few originals out there, but like a friend once said to me, “Interpret Freely”.

If you are an  artist trying to get a major labels attention you really need to STOP and think that one over. Look around at what the real industry is today, The Internet social media, your own Tribe or following, that’s the new level playing field. What is it going to take, well still a hard work and hustle, just depends on how bad you want it. Yes Youtube Instagram Facebook Twitter Pinterest Linkedin, Live this Live that, it’s all literally in the palm of your hands wherever you are 25/7. That’s not a type O, some of us never sleep.

Now to the meat of the real difference. Keeping your Originality. To sound like someone else is the easiest thing a musician can do with todays technology. What’s going to make you get followers, BELIEVERS, and I don’t mean as in (justin) no harm meant. Followers who love your uniqueness, originality and Sonic Sound. Anyone can use audio-tune to sound like the next on radio duplicate, but stay YOU, that’s what will keep YOU real at all times no matter what the damage that’s being forced upon the publics ear radar.

As my dear friend The Silver Conductor who allows me to post on his blog says: “CHANGE UP” is what’s needed into todays world ALL around.

EITR Thinking…(elephant in the room)

EITR Thinking…(elephant in the room)

Before I begin, let me make this perfectly clear,I’m not shooting for literary correctness,I write strictly from the heart and the majority of the time straight to the point, depending on the subject matter.I’m not trying to win a literary prize for I know those awards mainly go to writers who’s ambitions are New York Times Washington Post Wall Street Journal kind of honors.
With all due respect to ALL eyes that see read and hear this,no disrespect to your intelligence,I just want to have Written Verbal Conversations with you as the friend I see you as.                           Sincerely, Nuwri Ghostleaf

Damn that has too hurt as well as be humiliating. Just think if YOU were the EITR Thinking…(elephant in the room)? Well in the case of this article, you are. Wondering if the sound is right, if you used enough reverb or auto-tune. Yes we are talking music. I often wonder how difficult it is to make the right decisions in the studio. Music as we know it today has changed dramatically. Every artists is now sounding the same. The originality like yesterdays recording artists is so far gone, we often find ourselves as music creators, how far away do I want my music to be from the norm that’s being driven down our throat and ears by mainstream radio channels, that by the way are controlled by the powers that be. Which means what you might ask? Indie artists depend heavily on Internet radio DJ clubs and word of mouth to promote our music. The Pay to Play game is still in full affect if you hear what I’m saying.

So I ask YOU what is EITR Thinking…(elephant in the room) would you really have a clue? let me save you the trouble. Back in the day during the Soul Train, Band Stand era’s of tv music promotions, if the song had a great beat and you could dance to it, that usually meant a hit for the artists. Now days the formatting and playing field has changed to the tune of, My Tribe, Following, social media connections along with all other technological advances that help promote the indie artists. Bottomline is that, Who Really Cares How The Music Sounds?

What’s that you say dear Watson?

My voice is out, Auto-Tune it, I mean, well just fix it in the mix. You mean auto-tune it right? (LOL)

We heard that. Aw heck Just Do It! You really won’t know the difference, everyone sounds the same anyway today. Damn!

To be different means just that, Your sound is your identity. Prince, Michael Jackson, Ri Ri, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, EWF, David Bowie, Amy, Adele and so many of the artists I could have mentioned, are STAND out artists who’s sound is their own distinct sound without all the modern day trickery. “What you hear is not a test” it’s ORIGINALITY!

So I’m goning to cut this short and just say, if you are struggling with trying to beat the EITR Thinking…(elephant in the room), simply, Just Be YOU! those that feel your music will get with it and support, those that want to go with the trend like every other artist trying to be like the next, then hey if that works for you, then Do The Dam Thang! With Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube and all the other avenues you can travel down, how bad do you want it?

As my dear friend The Silver Conductor would say, we need a: http://thesilverconductor.com/

Todays Real Music Industry

MusicLuv to ALL eyes that see read and hear this. By the time you finish this short article, Todays Real Music Industry, something new will have been added to the way the music industry is changing. Whether it’s how you market your self and music, how you use social media, how you record or produce music, it’s all changing. There is one constant though, and that’s the way the major players (labels) keep playing the game. Very few new major record deals, Indie has taken over. What does that really mean? YOU have to Get Er’ Done, yo Damn Self! What’s your Grind like? What’s your Hustle like? Is it up to competeing with the majors? the only thing they really have on an Indie is $ yeah Moola. So how can I compete you might be thinkng or saying to yourself and for some, even harsh words like Sh** I can’t compete with that. Well 2 things, 1) If YOU think you can’t YOU won’t! 2) If YOU think you CAN you will! Either way YOU are Right. So what’s it’s gonna be? Me and The CJO, we’re on the Get Er’ Done train and “Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now”!

My dear friend whom I respect and admire so much, The Silver Conductorsays it best in his hit song

Fu** The Major Labels Go Indie!

Fu** The Major Labels Go Indie! seems to be the new sounding battle cry by many artists new old and considerates. With congress moving at a snell’s pace reagrding royalties and uping the anti, Shit I’d be pissed too! Like my dear friend The Silver Conductor says in his hit Indie song: “Change Up”

Rap artists have longed sold platinum way before majors got a hold of them by clamping down on distribution and radio, then offering them what seemed like a sweeter deal without the artist recognizing they were giving away the eternal life of thier creativity, i.e. PRINCE, MICHAEL JACKSON, r.i.p. They say the illuminatti did it.  Believe it or not, I say go INDIE! You keep control of hint) at $60 to $70k per year, and much more depending on your skill set.

Before I bore you with more details, I won’t, I’ll just say do your Due Dilgence,  learn the game, hit the grind fast and hard consistently, Never Give Up! Fu** The Major Labels Go Indie!

One the most successful Indie rappers in the immediate game. “Chance The Rapper”
