How to stay Relevant in Today’s Music Industry

by: Nuwri Ghostleaf

Before I begin, let me make this perfectly clear. I write strictly from the heart and the majority of the time straight to the point, depending on the subject matter. I’m not trying to win a literary prize for I know those awards mainly go to writers who’s ambitions are New York Times Washington Post Wall Street Journal kind of honors.
With all due respect to ALL eyes that see read and hear this,no disrespect to your intelligence,I just want to have Written Verbal Conversations with you as the friend I see you as.Sincerely: Nuwri Ghostleaf

The question that seems to be in the minds of both major and indie artists  is How to stay Relevant in Today’s Music Industry? For most that don’t keep up with the trends and top stories by those who are playing the game to win, this will be a little shocking, but not to those who see what’s really going on and moving in that direction.

Look at Prince Taylor and Swift, they both are making Bold moves that is garnering massive media attention and FREE (there’s the most hated four letter word again) by the way, because of their stands on where they see the change is happening. Do see where this is going? It used to be where they major labels would purposely have artists feuding with each other to create buzz about a certain something while drawing attention to the real story which is selling music.

Do you see where all this is leading? Get noticed in a very big way through media and all the social networks by Taking a stand. It was once said that “If you don’t Stand for something, You will Fall for anything” well Hello!

You do know that Facebook is the next Big Streaming giant right? well “Get ready because here they come”. With 1/2 the world’s connected population already, they would be foolish not to join in the game.

Now talking about standing out in a very big way to say hello look at me, have you seen the new Rihanna video? what is this really all about? you better read between the lines and hear what is really being shown and said in this disturbed artistic venture. This looks like something straight out of a Carrie movie. WTH?

Ok you are probably saying How do I? what am I to do? how can I compete with that? well you are in the creative business, but I write songs I don’t know of I can be that creative? Well you better start thinking outside of the box quickly are you’ll be right with all of the excuses you come with but here’s the reality check to that, People don’t care about your excuses other than family. Did you know that Success leaves clues? Look at what successful artists are doing and have done, put your spin on something similar and watch what happens.

How to stay Relevant in Today’s Music Industry? this is a process of Doing. Maybe the question now needs to be is How bad do you want in the business? With all that is accessible to any artist wanting to play the game today, there is no excuse, it’s about planning your work and working your plan. Social Media like Youtube Facebook Twitter Google Linkedin Hubpages Pinterest Snapchat Vines and all the rest, the game for connection engagement is wide open. So do like Nike says and Just Do It!

It’s really not so much the music anymore, though don’t slack in this area the buying public deserves your very best at all times or they and the viral network called the internet will Kick Yo A**! Do you remember all the hoopla over Jessica a year ago? who? I can hear you saying, the ‘Friday’ song that she and her parents put out, it wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be,it’s just the powers that be and the internet viral stream Killed her chance at a real music career. Message there is be smart and careful on how you do whacha do.

Staying relevant is a strategic move of what I call musical chess  played on the board of FREE and Social Engagement. If nothing else you take from this, “Know Thy Self” in ALL that you do.
